Best Motocross Helmets Under $300 for 2019 [Troy Lee, Fly, FOX, MSR, LS2, Bell].

Here are my top picks for motocross helmets that come in under 300 bucks. A few deals below are so good that some may be sold out by the time you read this article. Good luck!

Troy Lee SE4 Factory Motocross Helmet – $200

Troy Lee SE4 Factory MIPS Helmet

The Troy Lee SE4 Factory is an awesome option that comes in at $200.

It is built on a lightweight polyacrolyte shell that weighs in at  3.3 pounds.

It has the MIPS impact protection system installed just like a premium helmet.

It also has really good ventilation properties and contains 16 intake airways and 6 rear vacuum outlets that dispel the hot air quickly.

The SE4 also contains the premium drimax inner linings that I always find to be super comfortable to have on my face for longer riding periods.

A 3 year warranty is also available with the SE4. Nice!

Overall, excellent value for $200.

For proper fit and size measure the circumference of your head 1″ above your eyebrows and around the largest portion of the back of your head.

RANGE (inches)    SIZE
21.6″ – 22″ Small
22.4″ – 22.9″ Medium
22.9″ – 23.3″ Large
23.6″ – 24″ X-Large
24.4″ – 24.9″ XX-Large

MSR MAV4 Motocross Helmet – $100

best motocross helmets under 300 MSR MAV4

The MSR MAV4 is a helmet that is designed by enduro legend Malcolm Smith.

The 9 intake and exhaust ports keep the air flowing to keep your head cool and and the awesome silver lining makes it very comfortable to wear.

It is only 3.4 pounds and is also fully DOT certified. All internal linings and pads are machine washable.

What is great about this helmet is that it is the least expensive helmet I have ever seen (under $100) that has the MIPS impact system installed!

Usually, the MIPS impact system is only reserved for premium helmets and so this is one of the main reasons why this helmet is such a great deal.

MIPS is an internal impact system that rotates slightly within the shell of the helmet to disperse more impact of a crash, which means less impact on your head. Nice!

Bell MX-9 Motocross Helmet – $150

best helmets under 300 BELL MX9

This is another great helmet that has the MIPS impact system installed and is a great deal for around $150.

Bell helmets is one of the oldest helmet companies in the USA that began making premium helmets in the 1950’s and they have never compromised on their quality.

What I really like about the Bell MX-9 is that it has a very cool looking shape that was borrowed from its premium cousin, the Bell Carbon Flex Pro, that retails for about $700!!

The Bell MX-9 has a lightweight polycarbonate/ABS Shell and weighs 3.3 pounds which is an added bonus.

It is also DOT and ECE certified and has machine washable internal linings and pads.

Another strong selling point is that the Bell MX-9 comes with a 5 year warranty for manufacturers faults which provides peace of mind.

An awesome helmet overall!

#3 Fox Racing V1 Mata Motocross Helmet – $170

Best helmets under 300 Fox Racing V1

Fox racing has really delivered with their latest weapon, the V1 Mata!

The V1 has an awesome modern shape that has a stealth like design that turns heads.

I’ve always found FOX helmets to be super plush and comfortable and the V1 is no different! I really enjoyed wearing this helmet and the FOX super soft liners did not disappoint.

The V1 has 9 large intake and 4 exhaust ports for maximum ventilation.

Fox has also developed their MVRS system (magnetic visor release system) with this helmet which is an impact safety system.

The idea here is that during a crash, a visor can dig into the dirt and add extra rotational forces to your head. By the visor snapping off during a crash, those extra forces are removed.

I never crashed in this helmet to try the system out but it sounds like a good idea and any system that can reduce impact to my head is a good thing.

The Fox V1 exceeds DOT and ECE standards and as usual, all its internal linings and pads are machine washable.

LS2 MX470 Subverter Motocross Helmet – $299

The LS2 MX470 Subverter is my summer helmet and comes in at $299.

Why is it my summer helmet? Because it is covered in vents. It has more vents than any other motocross helmet on the market.

Also, check out all the colors and graphics available in the MX470 range, they are awesome!!

Aside from their awesome looks and huge ventilation properties, The MX470 Subverter also has special pull tabs release system that release the cheek pads in case  you crash and need to get your helmet off safely without putting pressure on your head.

It also has its own impact protection system that rotates slightly in the event of a crash and acts very similarly to the MIPS system available in other helmets.

The MX470 Subverter exceeds all DOT and ECE standards and have full removable machine washable internal linings.

FLY Racing F2 Carbon Animal MIPS Motocross Helmet – $299

FLY Racing F2 Carbon MIPS Motocross Helmet

The Fly Racing F2 carbon has been used by alot of pro riders this year – Benny Bloss, Weston Peick, Blake Baggett etc.

Why? Well because it is built like a premium helmet for half the cost at 299!

Firstly, this helmet has a carbon fiber matrix shell, which means its super tough and really light, coming in at under 3 pounds.

Secondly, it has Fly’s patented ‘true functional ventilation system’ that pushes ventilation thru the liner itself which provides cool air straight to your head rather than around it. nice!

It will also pull air up and away from your brow area like a vacuum to help with stopping your goggles from fogging up!

It also contain the MIPS protection system like all premium helmets have now.

The FLY Racing F2 carbon exceeds DOT and ECE standards and has fully removable inner linings and pads for washing.
